Dear Friends and Colleagues,
I am writing this on behalf of the Hungarian Cultural Anthropology Association (MAKAT). As you might have already heard the Hungarian Government is committed to stop the anthropology BA education program in Hungary. Now, we, anthropologists in and out of the country, try our best to rise awareness and get some international support which might help to change the mind of the decision makers. Now I use my personal email list and send this around to friends, colleagues, to everyone I know and might be able to help.
We have already issued a statement
1/statement and created an online petition:
and contacted many professional bodies asking them to support our work.
If you agree with our aims and if you are in a position to do so, I would like to ask you to support our quest and issue an official support letter that we can attach to our website and
also to our official documents in our communication with the Government. Obviously, we know that it is not that easy but we would be really glad to receive some support from you.
Also, if it is possible, I think it would be an enormous help to put our petition call in your newsletter (if there is any) to disseminate the news among as many scholars as possible.
It would be an invaluable help for as. Thank you very much on behalf of MAKAT.
ps, I CC-d it to the Association.
