Manchester City on red alert as Erling Haaland deadline advances

Manchester City’s pursuit of a perfect number nine at Erling Haaland is set to intensify, with Borussia Dortmund pushing forward the deadline for the Norwegian forward to decide on his future approvals, The mirror understand.

Haaland, 21, was a revelation in Dortmund, winning the ball 76 times in 74 appearances for the Bundesliga side. The Norwegian has been in sublime form since moving to Signal Iduna Park in Salzburg in 2020.

Haaland’s € 75million release clause will be active from next summer and nothing but a bidding war should take place for potentially the best striker of this generation. the report further add that Barcelona, Bayern Munchen, Chelsea, Manchester City, Manchester United, Paris Saint Germain and Real Madrid are all vying to sign a contract with the 21-year-old.

That said, Dortmund are said to have moved ahead of the deadline for Haaland’s future to be decided with Schwartz Gelben keen to secure a Champions League spot for next year after a disappointing exit from the group stage this year. The Germany-based club have even offered the Norwegian a new contract by doubling his salary but he risks being eclipsed by the gigantic offers on his table.

According to the Spanish release Marca, Haaland’s family have been approached about Barcelona and Real Madrid’s interest. This makes sense for recent speculation that Haaland only wants a move to Spain and that it could be the Catalans or the Los Blancos.

Barcelona seems to be his ideal destination for Erling Haaland with his ideology of being the protagonist of the project. It does appear to be difficult to happen to Real Madrid, however, with the former La Liga champions set to sign French superstar Kylian Mbappe on a PSG Bosman next summer.

Amid all the current speculation, Manchester City’s aspirations to land Erling Haaland look like a distant dream at least for now. Guardiola has made his intentions clear, however, in looking for alternatives for Haaland and appears to have shortlisted a few names with Dusan Vlahovic at the top of the list.
