Winters Free Summer Concert Series Begins July 7

WINTERS — The Winters Friends of the Library summer concert series kicks off July 7 with a free outdoor performance by Los Tres de Winters.

The concert will take place from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the Rotary Park Gazebo on Main Street at Railroad Avenue across from the Community Center.

The trio plays music in the Norteño style, which is a “hybrid of Mexican and Spanish vocal traditions with waltzes and polkas brought to Mexico by Czech and German immigrants in the mid-19th century. It evolved in northern Mexico and is now a favorite style throughout the western United States.

The members of the trio are José Luis Echeverria on accordion, Adolfo Valenzuela on bajo quinto (a large guitar with five rows of doubled steel strings) and Rafael Echeverria on bass.

The concert series will take place every Thursday with Paddy on the Binge playing traditional Irish and Scottish music on July 14; Back Porchestra playing original and vintage roots rock, Americana and country blues on July 21; and Afincáo playing Latin music – boogaloo, Cuban soncumbias and boleros – July 28.

“Everyone is welcome to pack a picnic, bring a blanket or lawn chairs or sit on the grass, sip a cool drink and listen to great live music,” they said. Friends of the Library.

Refreshments and quality used books will be available for sale. Proceeds support the Winters Library.

The series is sponsored by Waste Management and Oates Country Store. For more information, visit
